CONTACT US
Pennington Hollow Farm is family owned and operated by “Ma and Pa” Spencer and our 6 children. We purchased the property in 2004 and begin planting our O-----c* garden right away. The previous owner refrained from using any herbicides, pesticides or synthetic fertilizers on any part of the 14-acre tract. The very first year we were able to take our o-----cally* grown produce to the local farmers’ market.
The soil here is heavy clay, a challenge to work with at times, yet highly fertile. Our primary focus has been to add as much compost as we can get our hands on. As a result, the soil has greatly improved in the 6 years we have worked it.
The Chicken Ark holds 8 hens and is moved twice daily to fresh grass.
Our oldest son maintains a flock of laying hens and sells eggs through the CSA and at farmers’ markets. These hens free-range for half of the year and spend the other half in portable pens where they are moved to fresh pasture daily. Their natural diet of grass and insects is supplemented with whole grains and laying ration that are free of animal byproducts and purchased locally. We now offer Chicken Arks for sale in 2 sizes. Contact us for more information.
One day each year we invite our patrons to tour and inspect our farming operation. Other visits can be scheduled by contacting us at one of the methods listed below.
